Hey everyone! I’ve been thinking about how weather impacts sports. Do you guys think some sports are more affected by weather conditions than others? For example, does rain or wind disrupt football more than, say, basketball? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hey! Yes, some sports are definitely more affected by weather than others. Football, being outdoors, is heavily influenced by rain and wind—rain makes the field slippery and the ball harder to control, while wind can change the ball’s flight, disrupting passing and kicking. Basketball, usually played indoors, isn’t impacted by weather at all. It’s interesting how AI-driven prediction models https://gisuser.com/2025/04/the-impact-of-ai-driven-prediction-models-in-sports-betting/ now use weather data to improve sports betting accuracy, showing just how important these conditions are in shaping the game’s outcome. What do you think?

but I’d add that some outdoor sports deal with weather in very different ways. Take golf and tennis: wind can drastically change the game in golf, making it harder to judge shots. In tennis, rain usually stops the game altogether because the court gets unsafe. Also, sports like skiing or snowboarding obviously depend entirely on weather!
