If you’re looking for maximum ambient noise reduction though, the VicBooth Ultra is definitely NOT #1.

With -30dB of noise reduction, you’ll get around 80% of the ambient noise you’d need to deal with in everyday situations (ventilation, appliances, etc…).

However, considering that the walls are just 1″ thick… That’s pretty impressive!

Also, you need to remember that NOTHING is 100% soundproof (except a vacuum in space).

That being said, the VicBooth Ultra is excellent for a minimalist recording studio.

The eco-friendly materials used to build this soundproof booth will definitely do you (and the planet) a HUGE favour.

It’s also one of the rare booths that comes acoustically treated out of the box.

If you really want to get the most out of the Studio Bricks ONE though, I highly recommend the “voice-over edition”.

Bear Cave Silent Booths are proudly Canadian, but relatively new to the soundproof vocal booth market.

The aesthetic is definitely unique, but I can’t say it’s the most elegant option!

Looks aside though, the Silent Booth is actually one of the top performing soundproof booths on this list.

It’s also one of the most affordable vocal booths in regards to product and shipping.

It includes its own ventilation system so you won’t need to purchase that as an add-on.

The Verdict

The Silent Booth from Bear Cave is actually one of the better performing booths when it comes to ambient noise reduction.

However, it doesn’t take care of acoustics right out of the box. You’ll need to treat the inside of the Silent Booth on your own.

You can expect at least -30 dB of reduction (and up to -45dB), but you’ll most likely need to do some acoustic treatment on the inside of the booth. The acoustic foam and panels you see in many images of the Silent Booth aren’t included.

That being said, the Silent Booth isn’t as affordable as the pricing on the website indicates!

That’s one of the reasons you’ll save some money and luckily for you, they ship WORLDWIDE!!


The WhisperRoom definitely has the most upsells, but that’s what I like most about this company.

However, you’ll get everything you actually need by default like ventilation system, acoustic foam, etc…

I can also confirm that the WhisperRoom comes in LOTS of different shapes and sizes. You actually have about 7 pages of models to browse through on the website that range from 4′ x 4′ to 8′ x 16′.

Yup, WhisperRoom doesn’t just make soundproof booths… They make soundproof ROOMS. That beind said, one of those can cost you up to 40,000$!

That being said, you’ll find that their smallest booth are relatively affordable at 5,545$.

The important thing to keep in mind with a Whisper Room… You’ll need to treat the inside with acoustic foam and panels.

Your order should include some Auralex acoustic foam, but some users have complained that it simply doesn’t cure the “boxiness” of the WhisperRoom.

The best thing to do would be to purchase (or make) some proper acoustic panels.

So, the initial cost might seem attractive, but that’s before proper acoustic treatment.

Some users have also reported the shipping to be as much as the cost of the actual booth.

Of course, that always depends on where you’re getting it shipped!

Summary: 5+ Best Soundproof Booths for a Home Recording Studio

They might look similar, but these soundproof booths all have something special.

Is there one that’s necessarily better than the other? Not at all!

To be honest, the most important aspects of purchasing a soundproof booth have nothing to do with soundproofing.

Each one of these booths will give you between -30dB and -60dB of ambient noise reduction. That’s more than suitable for a home recording studio.

What you really need to pay attention to is…

  • Shipping cost
  • Portability & assembly
  • Scalability
  • Acoustic treatment
  • Ventilation system

Unless you’re okay with HUGE shipping costs, you should only purchase a booth from a manufacturer/distributor in your continent.

It might limit your options, but that may actually be a good thing if you’re feeling overwhelmed! That’s where I’d start.

When it comes to portability and assembly, you’ll be much better off with a VicBooth Ultra or a Studio Bricks ONE.

If you want the ability to scale over time though, the VicBooth Ultra takes it home!

However, I have to say that the ventilation system of the Studio Bricks ONE is pretty impressive (and impressively quiet).

Remember, not all of these booths include acoustic treatment by default. For example, you’ll need to take care of that yourself with the Silent Booth from Bear Cave.

My heart’s been set on a Studiobricks ONE PLUS for a while now, but now I’m finding myself considering the VicBooth Ultra as well (mainly due to it being scalable). That said, my biggest factor by far is having something that will contain the sound of me singing enough for me to be able to practice and record without disturbing my roommates. With this in mind, do you think Studiobricks would be my best bet?

      If you can afford it, I definitely recommend the Studiobricks (don’t forget to factor in shipping).

      If you want a more budget-friendly solution, you can either build yourself one or hire someone to build you a small soundproof booth/room for your apartment. That’s what I did!
